Only two airworthy Lancs to display in UK

This is a big deal, and would be incredible to see (if you're a Lanc-head like me).

The Canadian Heritage Warplane Museum are bringing their Lancaster - one of only two airworthy on the planet - to the UK in August. She and the RAFBBMF's Lanc will jointly display.

Envy. I saw the UK Lanc several times when I was over there. Seeing two would be Merlin-tastic.

Wow that would be great, and not likely to happen again.

If only they could get MOTaT''s airborne again

There's a small chance it might - Lincs Aviation's "Just Jane" is apparently being restored to airworthy status - http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/news/lan ... to-flight/

Compared to Canada, it's just down the road from the RAFBBF. It does however raise the even more tempting prospect of THREE Lancs in flight!

Someone's been playing too much Battle of Stalingrad and presumably being shot up by the 88s. :D

Is there anything physically stopping the Motat Lanc from flying again? Other than money and the right people pushing the project?

If they can rebuild the mossie, I'm sure someone could rebuild a Lancaster :)

From the little I understand it's more to do with compliance than the actual mechanics of it. Anyone know more?

My understanding is that they have cut the main spar when moving it. Heresay, but I have heard a lot about MOTAT from a number of sources that they have turned their noses up at a lot of opportunities
