DayZ server for our members

Postby Riven » Sat Apr 27, 2013 12:33 pm

Hosted locally so pings should be sub 50ms for everyone.

Currently I've so far setup a basic Chernarus server.

Search for NZL or Riven.

Current spawn load out :-
44 Revolver
1x ACP Clip
Empty Water bottle

TO DO:-
1, Custom difficulty settings.
2013-05-01 - The custom settings stopped taking effect. I have change it to vanilla 'Veteran'.

2, Vehicle/Item count.
Need to discuss what the vehicle count should be.

3, Remote Admin Access
Setup some admin logins for ArmA 2013-04-28 - BEC installed, need players GUIDs which I'll grab from the logs over the next few days.
A web based server reboot option.

4, Security
Figure the best way to deal with hackers, preventative and reactive 2013-04-28 - BEC is installed and using the dynamic global banlist from BE.
Need a how-to for the admins

5, Database management
Put a database backup plan in place - 2013-05-01 Done, hourly database backups
Need to put a vehicle database cleanup/respawn script in place for destroyed and out-of-bounds vehicles.

6, Server maintenance
2013-05-01 Server now restarts every night at midnight, this is so the crashed choppers don't take over among other things.

I don't plan on resetting the database if I can avoid it.
Password will be removed once we're happy with the setup and you all have admin rights with info on how to kick hackers etc.

Great stuff Riven! Thanks =]

EC and I were on it last night, ended the session by trying to fly the AN2 through that big factory structure at Cherno...

EC didnt quite make it, though he survived, while I didnt!

Here is the last view I had...

Just had a quick blast, spawning in Kamenka and making my way to Cherno. Very good ping, no lag at all.
I did find a couple of cars but didn't have the parts for them

Thanks for the server

I saw you on Awful, but EC and I had just logged out, and it was getting a bit late!

Will be off and on today though =]

Leave it off. Makes a GPS a valued item again. It still works in aircraft which is when you really need it especially when the fog rolls in

I've circulated this thread to a couple of other forums (KiwiSimRacing & SimCentral) along with a few mates.
Please be nice and leave the PvP action until we go public.

This is to help test the server loads and database tuning.

The password has now been removed.

Best you start hiding your vehicles etc, and watch out for other players!

Changes server restart time to midnight.

At midnight it locks the server against new connections but doesnt restart for a further 10mins just to be sure that all DB entries have been updated.
Please camp at midnight to help avoid losing items/vehicles.

Actual restart at 12:10am.

Hi all, just wondering, whats involved in getting this game up and running? I understand the Day Z mod is free... but is ARMA freeware or do I need to buy it?

You'll need arma2 operation arrowhead R33gz.

You can get it through steam.

1.7.7 is out, but the private hive versions are a little behind trying to get everything working.

There are also a few new bugs introduced with 1.7.7

Will wait a week or two before we update, to save my headache.
